New Testament 2023 Newsletter #50
Revelation 1-5
Glory, and Power, Be unto … the Lamb for Ever
(December 4-10)

A note from Emily & David
Buckle up.  This week we start the Book of Revelation.  Fair warning–you are going to love this book!  It is dripping with wild symbolism and is going to ignite your imagination!  It was written to help answer some of the questions of the last days.  What challenges are we facing in these days before His coming?  How will we overcome them?  Where and what can I do to find hope during all of the trouble?  This week we are studying Revelation 1-5.

Here are the segments you can look forward to:

GOD WINS!

FAITHFUL WITNESS

OVERCOMER

THE THRONE ROOM

We are so excited to spend this year learning with you!

With love,
David and Grace!

THE END OF THE NEW TESTAMENT MEANS IT IS TIME TO START ANTICIPATING THE BOOK OF MORMON.  WE HAVE PREPARED SEVERAL TOOLS FOR YOU TO HELP YOU DIG DEEP AND FALL IN LOVE WITH THE BOOK OF MORMON ALL OVER AGAIN.

And make sure you take a peek at our newest addition!  The Read it! Live it! Calendar.  Here’s why we love it…  We just wanted someone to make a schedule of the DAILY verses we needed to read if we want to finish the entire Book of Mormon by the end.  This calender does that!  Turn each page over each day to find a short list of verses that will keep you up to date on your daily reading.  BUT there is more!  We give you one verse to ponder and one thing you can DO to remember your reading for that day and make it part of your life.  READ IT!  LIVE IT!  It’s our new favorite addition to the family.

THE APP… THE BEST WAY TO STUDY WITH US IF YOU ARE OFF SOCIAL MEDIA

You will notice some old favorites there, like the daily’s, the newsletter, and the video all in one location.  But there are other fun things coming…including a THIS WEEK section, and also weekly transcripts.

This Week's Printable
The Book of Revelation is a vision, so it is meant to be seen.  This worksheet will give you a chance to picture what one of the visions may have looked like.

Teaching Tips for Kids
Give them the worksheet to color and doodle over as you read the chapters 4-5.  You might even want to give them a blank sheet of paper and let them draw their own picture as you describe what John saw.

Teaching Tips for teens
FIll in the symbolism for the different aspects of John’s vision of the throne room.  Teens might also want to start with a blank piece of paper and draw what they imagine the vision looked like.  Before telling them what each symbol meant anciently, have them think about how each of the symbols makes them feel.  What do they think they could mean?

Teaching tips for individuals and couples
Symbolism is a rich and layered language.  Fill in what each of the symbols may have meant to ancient saints, but don’t stop there.  What other lessons could the Lord be teaching through the vision He gave John of the throne room.

Come Follow Me 2023 Study Tools
Maybe you know this about us by now, but we are both visual, hands on learners.  Because of that, we are always trying to discover study tools that will help bring the scriptures to life in your home.  We will be using several different study tools this year, here is what we love most about each of them:

Videos:
For the New Testament we will be recording all new hour long videos, but this year they will be broken into ten minute segments in case you want to watch them for ten minutes every weekday, or you can watch them all at once.  These videos are totally free and can be found on YouTube or on our APP.

Journal:
The journals for the next four years have been totally redesigned with a theme in mind.  You will find questions to ponder daily that can be used for teaching or family discussions.  There are workbook pages based off of our most favorite part of each lesson that week.  You can also use these workbook pages for lessons or discussion.  There will also be a space for recording one name of Jesus Christ each week.

Devotional Book:
Perfect for a 5-10 minute lesson, these books can be used as a devotional every day.  This book is designed for personal study or family study.  We love to use ours around the dinner or breakfast table.

Word a Week Posters:
Perfect for a three minute study, these posters include one word and one verse a week for pondering.  Hang them somewhere in your home where they will be a daily reminder of Come, Follow Me.  This year we will be studying one name of Jesus Christ found in that week’s lesson.  By the end of the year we will have come up with 52 names.

Tip Ins:
These are small papers that can be glued right in your scriptures with tips and truths that will help to improve your study.

Stickers:
Use these colorful stickers in the margins of your Scriptures or in your Don’t Miss This Daily study journal.

Hopefully these tools will make your scripture study something you look forward to!
