Book of Mormon
Week 01
January 1-7, 2024
Introductory Pages of the Book of Mormon

A note from Grace & David

WELCOME to the Book of Mormon here are some things you might be excited about:

FIRST!  Make sure you download our free tender mercy timeline poster.  We will be focusing on that poster with our families all year long.  It’s perfect for Primary, youth classes, gospel doctrine and families.  We suggest beginning every single lesson with a tender mercy from that week’s reading and then a tender mercy from your own story.  Watch the beginning of these videos for tips on how to use this poster.

NEXT!  We will be teaching in ten minute segments this year.  Our goal is to help you find a daily reading pattern that works for you!  You will find easy video breaks and podcasts breaks in case you want to join us daily.  If you love to learn everything in one segment, that works too!  Just watch or listen the way you always have.

LAST!  And best of all.  Our goal this year is to help you fall in love with the words of the scriptures, not just the stories.  We will be spending focused time in words, verses and chapters as we learn together how to study the scriptures by focusing on what is written.  Prepare to open your scriptures with us in each study session.

This week in Come, Follow Me we will be studying the Introduction of the Book of Mormon.

Here are the segments you can look forward to:

This is the first week of our Book of Mormon Study.  The worksheet this week will give us a chance to understand how important the Book of Mormon is to building our faith!

Teaching Tips for Kids
Teach your kids what a keystone is.  Use marshmallows or sugar cubes to lay out a picture of what a keystone looks like.  Help your kids understand how the Book of Mormon strengthens belief.

Teaching Tips for teens
Watch a video showing a keystone and how it was used to build arches.  What is the importance of that middle stone?  If that stone is true, then what else is true?

You might say it teaches us Jesus is the Christ.  Write that in a square.
You might say Joseph Smith was a prophet and seer.  Write that in a square.

Fill up your whole paper with truths you know from the Book of Mormon.

Teaching tips for individuals and couples
Take your keystone worksheet one step farther.  If you write Jesus is the Christ, then take it one step farther.  What did He promise and teach that is now true?  If you wrote Joseph Smith was a prophet, write down something he taught or something that was restored through him.

We love studying with you!
