Hey Cöllective! Can I first say how much I appreciate you for being a subscriber since our launch in the Summer. We made it through the first 6 months running the newsletter! Almost 1,800 subscribers! I can't express it enough how grateful I am for you. I want to give a shout out to my village; the entire Menärchē team. I want to thank Yasmine and Samantha for bringing their light and creativity to this idea of mine. I appreciate them both for their time and effort in supporting my brand and being such valuable assets to this community I'm growing. Only two more issues left before the end of the year. So I realized last week that my message here was shortened and cut off. Apologies for that little oops. LOL! Listen, you may see real mistakes in real time, and I prefer to be transparent no matter what. So I was speaking on birth control and how it impacted my mental health. It was in a therapy session that I realized that the pill was making me moody, sad, or angry all the time. During that time (in my 20s) when I was continuously taking the pill, it was hard for me to make and keep friends, and keep a job too. Like my experience, I believe so many of us are persuaded to get on the pill for our reproductive symptoms and we're not being educated about what we're really doing to our body AND our mind. I'm not confident that the healthcare system truly gives a shit about the thousands of women that will have a stroke, heart attack, or mental breakdown due to taking the pill as instructed by their doctor. Side effects do happen, and for many women, it's extreme. Medical gaslighting is real. Listening to your body and advocating for yourself can save your life. My role here is to be an editor and advocate. The purpose is to support you with expert-vetted content, including studies, articles, and product alternatives. You have this media to guide you to make informed decisions regarding your body and your health. My thing is I just want better for us. ALL OF US! Better birth control options, better doctors, and better resources. Better care.
