Dec Prompt 1 Check-In
WARMTH
What ideas has “warmth” sparked in you? I've pretty much spent all the winters of my life in CA so now that I'm traversing through snowy states and 30 degree weather, warmth has taken on a new meaning :) (I don't mind it though as long as I have a jacket and scarf!) I have a few ideas I've been bouncing around in my mind and just need to work through a little bit more then will be ready to get it down on my sketchbook page.

Here's some of the recent pieces we've been working on. And even though most are not for this current prompt, I think there are some great ideas that might get you thinking about warmth in a different way!

Vanesa's recent creations include:

Hygge art for “warmth” (above): “'a Scandinavian word that means creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people.' Inspired by @letsgomakeartThe symmetry in this piece reminds me of the amazing mandalas Vanesa has made in the past!

And a pop up octopus for “metamorphosis“: ”'a physical change … in the form of movement with pop up elements.' Inspired by @carlemuseum" This octopus is so cute and I love the background Vanesa created, blending her style and skills with inspiration from Carle.

I have really enjoyed following Richelle's piece throughout the month of November! She started with art created from paint and pieces of nature. Richelle then transformed that into a mini gratitude journal! I love how she added the text to the left pages and used circles throughout to tie it all together.

My piece for gratitude also took the month of November to create--I needed some time to figure out what pieces I wanted to use and the composition. I also worked outside my sketchbook this time since I wanted to share this with someone I am grateful for. It's likely it's still in transit so I am including just a little peek of one of my favorite parts :) (I love how the greenery dried and created loops that match the thread.)

I came across this link that I wanted to share with you--it includes examples of art grouped by different colors including a section on warm colors in art (it's toward the middle of the page). It was also fun browsing through the other examples! You can find the post here.

I'll be sending out our final prompt this Friday--I can't believe it! I will talk to you then but in the meantime stay warm and cozy and I hope you continue to enjoy these final weeks of fall!
