The new year is the perfect time to detox unhealthy or unproductive areas of your life - whether that's physical or emotional. Here's your heads up: Pop this kit in your cart this month in preparation for our upcoming February emotional release class!
When we open up our cleansing pathways: the colon, the kidneys, the lungs, and the skin (sweating), we provide a safe environment for the body to release the toxins it has stored, but we also we give our nervous system a chance to relax so that our body can HEAL – both physically and emotionally!.
CLEANSING & EMOTIONS AT A GLANCE
- Physical cleansing will also bring up emotions stored in the body
- It is normal to feel irritable, sad, angry, or cry during a cleanse
- Use essential oils to help process through emotions that arise (don't suppress them!)
- Choosing gratitude for the cleanse and the emotional release will help both the physical and emotional results
“While many think of their brain as the organ in charge, your gut actually sends far more information to your brain than your brain sends to your gut…to put this into more concrete terms, you've probably experienced the visceral sensation of butterflies in your stomach when you're nervous, or had an upset stomach when you were very angry or stressed. The flip side is also true, in that problems in your gut can directly impact your mental health, leading to issues like anxiety and depression.”
We are whole beings with minds, hearts, emotions, spirits, and physical bodies, and they ALL work together. This means that if you want lasting change in your health, the underlying past will need to be stared down:
- Trauma and pain will need to be addressed.
- Nervous systems will need to be healed and rewired.
- Thoughts will need to be rerouted. (renew the mind and take every thought captive)
There is so much freedom in this!
As the body cleanses, it will release the emotions stored within it. Have you ever heard of (or experienced!) people crying during yoga, massage, or acupuncture treatment? This happens because a tender spot within the body becomes activated and leads to an emotional release. This is a perfect example of your physical body and your nervous system interacting with your brain and emotions!
In the book Foundation Theory, Dr. Paul Goodwin explains that we create black bags of unprocessed emotions, and that these black bags can be measured along neuro pathways. He describes how, by measuring electrical impulses along neural pathways, repressed emotions show up as blockages along the pathways within the nervous system. (Is your mind blown yet??!)
And colon, liver, or parasite cleansing are no different!
Once the body begins to release emotional toxins and traumas stored in the nervous system, it's common to experience things like irritability, impatience, heightened sensitivity, anger and crying at the drop of a hat or for what appears to be no reason.
When these emotions and behaviors come up, try not to suppress them. This is a great time to sit with these emotions, get curious, and just observe them. Pick up a bottle of Release or Valor, get quiet, take a deep breath and ask yourself where are these emotions stemming from?
ACTION STEPS FOR CLEANSING & EMOTIONS
* Use emotionally-supportive essential oils intentionally to process your emotions. Some favorites include Release, White Angelica, Valor, Peace & Calming, and any oil from the Feelings Kit
* Try journaling – try a ‘thought download' to get all that negativity out of your head and onto paper. THEN, actively shift those thoughts. Your thoughts have power over your emotions which have power over your actions.
* Consider pairing an oil with prayer. Pray about which oil to use, then think of your suppressed emotion or memory. Deliberately realign your thoughts with Scripture.
* Grab an oil and isolate what emotion you are feeling. Replace any lies in your head with the truth of God's Word, as you sit quietly. After a time, practice rewiring that pathway with a truth or affirmation. Do this daily as you process through a specific event or emotion.
* Process emotions through movement. This can be walking, yoga, swimming, cycling, etc.
Grab your oils and apply or diffuse them as you move, breathing in the oil as you mentally and physically process.
