Winners are recognized for innovation, creativity, organizational excellence, and leadership. Judges recognize “best in class” approaches and thought leadership, and industry influence in each category. This Award Honors Sports Business Journal’s 2024 Celebration of Service Award recognizes the power sports has on improving society and in building community. This award honors those organizations who have led the way in exemplifying how sport is a catalyst for social change, who have both demonstrated innovation and provided inspiration through the power of sports. They have helped to lift people up and have demonstrated the power of sports to be a vehicle for good. - Be in good financial standing, based on further review of IRS filed 990s and/or audited financials
- Operate within the parameters of all applicable laws and regulations where organization services are provided
- Showcase outstanding institutional leadership and model for improving community health through sports
- Demonstrate influential thought leadership Display proven measurable impact
- Be able to accept the award on May 22, 2024, in New York City and participate in interviews and other media requests

December 13, 2023 In this talk, Ángel Barbas will share the progress of an ongoing research project that aims to study the contribution of alternative media to media literacy in a variety of cultural and geographical contexts. First, the results of a systematic literature review will be presented; research gaps and challenges identified during the process will be be addressed. In the third section of the talk, he will introduce preliminary results of fieldwork carried out on a sample of alternative media in Spain, the UK, Africa and the Middle East. Application Deadline: January 17, 2024 The WiST Fellowship Program delivers summer internship experiences for women and nonbinary undergraduate and graduate students eager to begin their careers in the sports tech industry. This program is an integral part of how we propel women into important roles and leadership positions in sports tech. Click to hear recent fellowship recipients talk about the impact of their WiST Fellowship experience. WiST partners with sports tech industry-leading companies to offer 8 week summer internships combined with a curated professional development program. We define the sports tech industry broadly and encourage experiences that combine the themes of sports and technology innovation in creative ways. To increase the accessibility of these opportunities, WiST Fellows receive funding and reimbursement for travel expenses directly related to the work experience. While the benefits created by these resume-building experiences are significant, the relationships developed among the Fellows cohort, Fellow alumni, and the WiST community at large provide an unmatched network and ongoing support for future growth. The confidence, strength and character gained through sports participation are the very tools girls and women need to become strong leaders in sports and life. WSF ushers in 2024 excited to celebrate our 50th anniversary. We are proud of this tremendous milestone and appreciate all who have, and continue to, support us in our mission – and join us on this important day. A vibrant movement we celebrate annually, NGWSD honors the achievements of girls and women in sports and continues to Lead Her Forward by acknowledging the power of sports to unlock her limitless potential.
