food for thought
rest between the opposites
If you're reading this, you probably know ad nauseam how my 2023 went down. On the one hand, I'm so fucking over talking about it. But on the other, I learned more over the last 12 months than I can even attempt to quantify, comprehend or even honestly explain. That said, one of the biggest over-arching lessons brought me back to my studies of Buddhist philosophy and the guidance it provides on pursuing a life that exists righteously in the middle way. Repeatedly throughout the year, I found myself replying to the standard "hi-how-are-you" salutation with the raw, honest and seemingly contradictory response; “I'm great. And I'm also not that great.” Little did I know at the time how incredibly wise this response really was. Rather remarkably, I was (and am) at peace with the way things are. Because for all of us out there, life is messy, love is complicated and the middle is really really nice.
