๐ŸŒŸ Finding Light in the Darkness: A Hanukkah Message of Resilience ๐Ÿ’™
Dear Yahel Community,

In the midst of what sometimes feels like endless devastating news since October 7th, our hearts are heavy with grief. Today, especially, we feel the weight of pain and loss. Yet, amidst the darkness, let us also find strength in the resilience that resides within each of us and within our community.

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ This Hanukkah, as we light the hanukkiah, let's draw inspiration from the age-old story of triumph over adversity. Like the miraculous oil that lasted for eight days, may our collective efforts illuminate the path forward in the wake of the October 7th attacks.

๐ŸŒ I am proud to share an opinion piece I recently wrote that was published in EJewish Philanthropy. In it, I explore the transformative impact of responsible and sustainable volunteerism. Beyond rebuilding communities, our endeavors are seeds of hope and resilience, and must be sown with care and intention. As I write in the article, โ€œthis is a moment in time we will all remember. My hope is we will remember it as a time when we came together, built each other up and together strengthened the fabric of the canvas on which the Jewish story is being writtenโ€.
๐Ÿค As we look towards 2024, now more than ever, we see how important our fellowship and other programming will be - both to help Israel's communities build their resilience, and to engage young adults in nuanced Israel programming that will strengthen their bond with Israel in ways that align with liberal values. Making an organizational contribution to Yahel would be instrumental in empowering us to strengthen and expand our programming in 2024.
๐ŸŒ The Crisis to Community Resilience Fellowship will begin on January 10th. It will bring together the core elements that make our fellowship profoundly meaningful, revolving around building community resilience and engaging in impactful work that supports Israel's communities. Please help us spread the word.
Wishing you and your family a Hanukkah filled with moments of light, joy, and the warmth of community.

With gratitude,
Dana and the Yahel Israel Team
