Hello from Colorado!
Hello friends! I've been much enjoying my part-work part-vacation here in Colorado this month. I cant wait to tell you all about it!

I've been blessed to meet several friends at Breckenridge ski resort for day-trip ski outings. I'm grateful to have relationships with fun people who enjoy riding mountains as much as I do!
My partner Mikie (snowboarder) and I are staying in a small town nearby called Alma in Park County - it's the highest-elevation incorporated town in the United States (and you bet i've been feeling it!)
Fun fact: It's also the Park County that the TV show South Park is based on.

Last week I took a stroll from our Airbnb up the county road one late-afternoon and encountered this incredible view (below). This place is powerful, wild, and wonderful.

I attempted to drive up a different county road to go on a winter hike last week, and I got completely stuck in a snowbank with zero cell reception. I spent the better part of two hours chipping away ice and snow with a 10-inch hand-held windshield ice scraper (which I had thankfully bought for the car upon arriving in Colorado).
Between that effort and laying down the rubber trunk mat under the tires, I was able to get enough traction to get myself out of there.
I'm grateful to my Wisconsin & Minnesota roots for the knowledge on how to handle such situation, however, needless to say, that was SCARY, and I wont be embarking on any more winter hikes while i'm here.

NOW - for some Folded Poetry! Allow me to update you on some design proposals which i've submitted just before and during my stay here.
I created the following flowing, organic design proposal for a healthcare facility in Reno, Nevada featuring jewel tones from nearby Lake Tahoe - which I just visited for the first time (and lost my phone into) this past summer!

The client had some requests and I made a few modifications from what's shown - but I wanted to share this original design proposal with you because I love the way it turned out. Waiting to hear back on this one with fingers crossed!
For a different opportunity I created following arrangements and color options for a framed paper artwork using the same forms as my previously produced Epic artworks - which the client loved!

I also completed the following renderings for a design proposal utilizing 140 sculptural diamonds.

Fingers crossed that I land some (or all!) of these proposals!
Ok now back to SKIING! πŸ˜‡
Some backstory: I've been skiing since I was a little girl –  It is a great love of mine. My late father was a ski instructor, and we all enjoyed hitting the local hill when I was a kid growing up in rural Minnesota. Check out this wild photo I found of my father skiing / flying(?) below:

I've wanted my very own pair of skis since I was a teenager. For many years after my car crash and traumatic brain injury, I was in no shape to handle the altitude or physical exertion skiing requires, and questioned if this great love of mine was done for good. [To learn more about my story, click the button below!]

I've been working hard on my health, and now finally, 5 years post TBI, it feels incredible to finally big-mountain ski again - this time with gear of my very own.

Skiing is one answer to the β€œWhy” of everything I do personally and professionally - I love it THAT much.
If you're still reading this, thank you for your continued love and support – and for sticking with me through my most personal email update to-date!
Until next time my Folded Poetry friends!
