CCA,
Each year, as we enter the holiday season, we begin to check in with our clients, knowing this time of year can be difficult for many. This professional awareness is appropriate and often appreciated by those we serve as mental health professionals. However, as we wrap up 2023, I encourage all of us to consider our own well-being, just as we do our clients. The work you do throughout the year is vital for many to thrive in their lives, reaching their fullest potential as members of our Colorado communities. While our work is worthy of our efforts, we know it takes a toll on us.
So...you are invited. Invited to lean into family, friends, and loved ones in the coming days. Invited to purposefully see the beauty surrounding us this time of year, to let something as simple as Christmas lights impact you. You are invited to consider those in your life and express gratitude for who they are and what they mean to you. You are invited to ask yourself, “How am I doing?” and reflect on the coming year. Simply, you are invited to seek out restoration, your own wellness. It is true: this is easier said than done for many of us. But commit to finding ways to “put some hot chocolate back into your mug” this holiday season. You are worth it.
Thank you for being a part of CCA and for doing what you do daily. I wish each of you a happy holiday season and a Merry Christmas. CCA is proud to work on your behalf.
Sincerely,
Dr. Ryan M. Burkhart, CCA Executive Director
