Book of Mormon
Week 02
January 8-14, 2024
1 Nephi 1-5

A note from Grace & David

WELCOME to the Book of Mormon here are some things you might be excited about:

FIRST!  Make sure you download our free tender mercy timeline poster.  We will be focusing on that poster with our families all year long.  It’s perfect for Primary, youth classes, gospel doctrine and families.  We suggest beginning every single lesson with a tender mercy from that week’s reading and then a tender mercy from your own story.  Watch the beginning of these videos for tips on how to use this poster.

NEXT!  We will be teaching in ten minute segments this year.  Our goal is to help you find a daily reading pattern that works for you!  You will find easy video breaks and podcasts breaks in case you want to join us daily.  If you love to learn everything in one segment, that works too!  Just watch or listen the way you always have.

LAST!  And best of all.  Our goal this year is to help you fall in love with the words of the scriptures, not just the stories.  We will be spending focused time in words, verses and chapters as we learn together how to study the scriptures by focusing on what is written.  Prepare to open your scriptures with us in each study session.

This week in Come, Follow Me we will be studying 1 Nephi 1-5 in the Book of Mormon.

Here are the segments you can look forward to:

What does it look like to live with brave trust?  This  worksheet will help us discover the answer!

Teaching Tips for Kids
As you read the story of Nephi getting the brass plates, find words that show trust.  Write one word in every space.

Teaching Tips for teens
Trust is often defined by actions.  Write down some of the brave actions or phrases that helped Nephi to obtain and then take the brass plates to his father.  How might you try out these same actions in your own story?

Teaching tips for individuals and couples
Trust comes from a belief in someone or something.  How does Nephi show his belief in the Lord as he tries again and again to accomplish the work he had been commanded to do?

We love studying with you!
