January is just around the corner, and with that comes citrus season! Lemons, oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, and clementines are the new go-to gems in the grocery stores, and
for good reasons! Citrus has great health benefits in the winter time in cold states.
Citrus seasons are between December to March. One of my favorite newer varieties of citrus is the sumo citrus orange. The Sumo Citrus is only grown in the San Joaquin Valley of California and partners with growers in Australia.
Sumo Citrus are massive mandarin oranges with the sweetest, most delectable oranges I have had in my life. They are new to the scene, slightly more expensive, but worth it for
the short time you can get them every year. They have become a January staple in my home.
Eating winter citrus helps to boost your immune system, improves digestion, satisfies sugar cravings, and is good for your heart, skin, and joints. While many of us our fighting
winter colds, allergies, etc., citrus is a great natural go-to to help make it through the season and boost your immune system at a time that it could really use it.
Make sure you have lots of citrus on your next grocery list! These items also make great salsas, slaws, sauces, or juices for meals. For example, our citrus salsa that is a garnish
on our lobster risotto. Lots of fresh lemon juice, mandarin oranges, and herbs. Another example is our orange beurre blanc on our lobster ravioli. It pairs beautifully with a beautiful
roasted lobster tail and fresh chives. Whatever citrus you choose, make sure you have something on hand!
Sending many cheers for another year in the books,
