here with the big news:

Hello, 2024! ✨ I hope you had a relaxing and fun NYE with loved ones, but we need to get right down to business bc today brings the exciting launch that I hinted at last week.

But first! A quick synopsis of what to expect from the revitalization of this email newsletter:
  1. Today I'm unveiling the new brand and giving you a bit of the backstory.
  2. Next week I'll be sharing the inspiration behind the brand and also telling you about a special gift that is being offered only to my newsletter subscribers.
  3. Going forward, you'll receive my “studio notes” a few times a month and those will include musings, resources, and images that are centered around curating your most remarkable home.
I know it's a bit of a departure from the style content you've seen from me in the past, but I'd love to have you stick around because I plan to sneak in plenty of fashion tidbits every once in a while.

And NOW without further ado, I'd like to officially introduce you to my latest venture…

Artisénne Studio – Interior Design + Artful Objects

I've been working tirelessly behind the scenes to get the branding and visual elements the way I want them (still a little ways to go, tbh) but things finally clicked in December and I'm pleased with how it has all unfolded so far.

You should definitely click over to the website to take a peek for yourself, and in the meantime I'd love to share a bit of the backstory on how we got here.

When I decided to (secretively!) apply to interior design programs back in the Fall of 2022, it seemed like a few parts whim mixed with equal parts deep-seated intuition. I'd been mulling over a career shift for a handful of years but struggled with a lack of clarity that I believe was made much worse by the looming fear of sunk costs. (Starting over can be SO scary. Lmk if this is something we should talk more about that another time.)

Almost instantly after hearing that my applications had been accepted, a handful of circumstances unfolded and my path seemed lit up with the glow of divine guidance. While the signs added up so did the encouragement from family and friends, and I clung to these things while beginning my Interior Design Program at Rhode Island School of Design in February 2023.

This past year as a student has been humbling to say the least! I didn't anticipate the difficulty of balancing real-life with my sizable homework load, and also had completely forgotten what “grade-anxiety” feels like!

During Summer of 2023, we finished Phase Two of our cabin renovation and around that same time, I came across an old photo from my childhood that affirmed the earlier nudges and also reminded me how much creativity and design and spatial mastery is literally in my blood.

“Coloring” with my Bompa while he teaches me to use his architectural scale and drafting triangles. 🥹

One grandpa was an engineer and the other was a well-known architect so I have been exposed to tinkering, building, and designing for my entire life!

The feelings of accomplishment that came from completing our full-scope project in Big Bear were combined with such a distinct newfound sense of heritage, and those two things shaken together made for exactly the cocktail of confidence that I'd been craving.

Which brings me to now: Artisénne is the overarching brand from where I'll now be sharing all of my professional and creative pursuits.

It is meant to enhance my existing work as an art + antique dealer while also allowing my interior design aspirations to grow and flourish. I'll continue my apprenticeship with a wonderful interior designer here in Long Beach but am now happy to accept client work as my calendar allows.

On that note, here's how to learn more about working together:
  • Peruse the offerings page of my website for details
  • Set-up a discovery call to chat more about the process
  • Reply to this email with questions about home design, antiques, or anything else I haven't covered yet

Alright, well I think that's plenty enough for one day, but I'll be back next week with a list of my favorite home-decor resources and also some (mildly snarky) thoughts on the forecast for upcoming home trends. Buckle up!

Until then: I'm wishing you a new year that is filled with beautiful spaces and continued growth. Thank you for joining me in the excitement of today and cheers to a promise of bright hope for whatever lies ahead!
