A WILD PERSPECTIVE #49
March 2024

HEADING EAST
Hi First name / everyone I hope this newsletter finds you well? Thank you so much for humouring me with my last one, I know it wasn't my typical subject, but the feedback I got was incredible, so thank you! At times I am compelled to share more about me, in the hope that you can be part of my journey. Let me know if this is something you like, or dislike, as I am always interested in how to improve “A wild perspective”.

You will be pleased to know, this month is all about photography! I finally got around to editing some of my Tanzania/Kenya images, so this newsletter is a two part trip report on East Africa. Part one will be all about my time in Tanzania, as I share my favourite images from the trip. Part two will be on my time in the Masai Mara. I hope you enjoy, and as always feel free to forward the email to anyone you think may like it!

P.S I have added the EXIF data to several of the more creative images. I hope this helps those curious about how the image was taken.

TANZANIA
We started our journey in the Serengeti, a destination that is visually etched in so many peoples minds. An icon “African safari" that everyone has to do once in their life. From boulder climbing lions to unmistakable open plains, it is a photographers dream. This month I wanted to share a diverse selection of images from this unique land.

As we made our way south through the Serengeti following the wildebeest, we arrived in Ndutu. We are following the path of the million strong herd as they give birth to the next generation. Calving season is a wonder to behold, but often there is so much more to photograph than just the large herds. A big highlight for the guests was our time with the many lion that call this area home. We were also treated to one of the most spectacular hot air balloon rides I have ever experienced.

Our final stop was the Ngorogoro crater. A truly unique destination that absolutely took my breath away! One of the highlights of this section for me was seeing the Masai that still call this place home. The landscape is already so beautiful on its own, that the Masai dressed in their brightly coloured shukas (Masai cloths) are the cherry on the top!

GUIDE TRAINING
I have also just returned from a fantastic week coordinating a “guiding for photographers” course for Pangolin Photo Safaris to Ker & Downey guides across their camps in Botswana.

It has been a longstanding dream to be able to mentor and work with passionate guides that are enthusiastic to learn and grow their photographic skill set! Photography is the future of tourism, and I cannot wait to help enable Botswana's custodians of nature with the skills needed to facilitate this industry. Thank you Ker & Downey for seeing the value in empowering your guides, and I cannot wait to work with them in the future!

Special thanks to my Pangolin colleagues Pusetso, Jongman, and Walter for all their hard work. Please check out these threes work, as they are truly shining talents of Botswana photography!
