Another year in the books and we find ourselves once again saying, “Wow!  I can't believe how much we achieved!”  We closed out 2023 with 450 members at Asmbly, up from 368 at the end of 2022.  Full details on our biggest achievements will be in our annual report next month including new additions to our board, shop area leads, and more.
There was a HUGE finish to the year on the tool acquisition front that we simply can't wait to share with you.  Asmbly acquired a long awaited cool tool for the metal shop thanks to some quick fundraising amongst members.

With over $18k raised, Asmbly was able to purchase a used Boss 700W Fiber Laser.  This 5'x10' machine can cut 3mm stainless steel / 6mm carbon steel / 2mm aluminum with a kerf as small as 50 microns!  Adding a machine like this to our offerings has been at the top of our list for quite some time and we're incredibly grateful to our generous donors who made this possible.
As you can see from the picture above, this machine is in the shop, however we're still getting it set up and developing curriculum to ensure it can be used safely and effectively.  We're working to bring the machine and its required classes fully online as quickly as possible.  When we do so, we'll be giving our donors of $500 or more first access to register for classes as well as extended booking times for the first month as a small token of our gratitude.  The fundraiser is still open, so if you'd like to donate you can do so at the link below.

We're kicking off our first Community Social Hour of the year at Lazarus Brewing on Airport Blvd.  Join us for tasty coffee, tacos, and beer as we get to know each other outside the shop!

Join Branislav in our new leather working area of the Textiles shop as he walks us through how to make this leather card holder.  This is a free offering for members, just be sure to RSVP here so he knows how much leather to bring.

We've got a new monthly meet up for all our laser lovers in the house!  Join Michael each month on the 3rd Sunday at 11am for demos, project showcases and more.  This month, he'll be demonstrating print + cut — an awesome feature in Lightburn that pairs nicely with sublimation printing.
