Q: What is your favorite part of taking music lessons at Music Makers?
A: Learning and playing piano

Q: What is your favorite song to play and why?
A: Cafe Vienna or why am I blue because of its rhythm and tune

Q:What inspired you to take music lessons?
A: I saw a video about playing piano that interested me, and the next day in band class at my school we got a little bit of drum lessons, which made me think of that video I saw and how much fun it would be considering how much I learned and how much fun I had from those lessons.

Q: Most memorable musical moment?
A: It would probably be when I first began to play, which was a fun and surprisingly satisfying experience

Q: What are your future musical goals?
A: My goals are to get as good as I can get and to keep getting lessons until I reach the end amount of content I can learn.
Q: Which famous musician would you choose to meet?
A:  I would choose to meet a classical musician like Beethoven or Mozart and how they learned and made so much great music

Q: What are three fun facts about yourself?
A:  I am super good at spelling, my favorite animal is a pig, I am a twin

Kiarra G.

Q: What is your favorite part of taking music lessons at Music Makers?
A: Definitely my teacher Ms. Esther. She is so nice and I learn a lot with her.

Q: What is your favorite song to play and why?
A:  Jingle Bells is my favorite because I’m good at playing it.

Q: What inspired you to take music lessons?
A: I thought it would be fun to learn how to play and I really like the sounds the piano makes.

Q: Most memorable musical moment?
A: Figuring out where middle C is.

Q: What are your future musical goals?
A: I want to learn how to read music, so that I can play anything.

Q: Which famous musician would you choose to meet?
A:  Drake, because one of his songs is, β€œKiki do you love me…” and that’s my nickname.

Q: What are three fun facts about yourself?
A: My favorite animals are penguins, I like gymnastics, I just went to my first basketball game to watch my favorite team, the Suns!

Calli B. &
Gia D.

Q: What is your favorite part of taking music lessons at Music Makers?
Gia: Getting to learn and improve on something that i’m so passionate about as well as getting to do it with my best friend!
Calli: My favorite part is the fun and supportive environment here, especially because I take lessons with Gia, it’s so much fun to develop a skill while also creating and strengthening friendships with her and Ms. Kaili (and all the rest of the music makers staff)

Q: What is your favorite song to play and why?
Gia: Anything by Gracie Abrams, I love her soft and airy voice and the way she sings about her feelings with such realness and truth.
Calli: My favorite songs to sing are anything musical theater because they’re so much fun to sing and act out, while also being a really good challenge and learning experience

Q: What inspired you to take music lessons?
Gia: Calli actually!! I remember when we first became friends she would tell me all about her voice lessons/show me her music binder and I thought she sounded so cool so I decided to start taking them!
Calli: I was inspired to take singing lessons at 6 years old after watching Tangled. I watched the movie constantly, memorized all the words, and developed a love of music and singing, so much so that I begged to be able to take lessons.

Q: Why take music lessons together?
Gia: I think it creates a more empowering environment and being so close with Calli, I feel comfort even when she’s just sitting in the same room as me :)
Calli: Aside from the fact that Gia is one of my favorite people on the planet, I think taking lessons together and performing duets together adds an extra layer of challenge and learning that we didn’t get while taking lessons alone, like learning to harmonize and work with other people. It’s also nice to have someone there to cheer you on and push you out of your comfort zone and into attempting things you wouldn’t have without the extra support.

Q: Most memorable musical moment?
Gia: Just any time i’ve gotten to perform with Calli on stage, I think together we have such a presence in front of a crowd and it’s so rewarding to hear all of the compliments people have for us after!
Calli: I have so many amazing memories at music makers, but I think the most memorable one was performing What is This Feeling with my first teacher, Ms. Catherine, because it was so much fun to be able to sing with her and act out the entire song together, and it also definitely sparked my love of performing with other people.

Q: What are your future musical goals?
Gia: One day i’d love to do a musical movie like La La Land or be on broadway! Those performers convey such power and emotion with their voices and i’d love to be able to do that!
Calli: My future musical goals are to keep taking lessons and to keep learning as much as I can about music while also letting it continue to be an outlet and a source of comfort.

Q: Which famous musician would you choose to meet?
Gia: Definitely Taylor Swift! She’s such an inspiration not only to me, but to so many other people, and the way that she writes her songs and makes you feel like she just pulled all of your thoughts out of your mind is just so rare and phenomenal, and she seems like the most down to earth person!
Calli: Definitely Taylor Swift

Q: What are three fun facts about yourself?
Gia: I met Gracie Abrams, I have a double jointed right thumb, and I’m able to tell what celebrity you look exactly like πŸ˜‡
Calli: I write poetry, I know Taylor swift’s entire discography, and I’ve watched the entirety of Dance Moms 3 times
