Hey, First name / friends!
As we head into a new year, there is one thing on the top of many artists’ minds – Trends! As artists and surface designers, it’s important to stay on top of what’s trending. Trending motifs, subjects, and colors are a great way to tap into a wider audience and create mass appeal with your work.

Keying into a trend means more people loving your products or artwork which means more sales, more customers, and more audience members.

Last week’s #CreateWithCatCoq challenge was to create artwork using the Pantone color of the year – Peach Fuzz. This is a great way to tap into what’s trending, but there are so many more avenues for predicting upcoming trends!

If you’re ready to learn how you can become a trend forecaster and use the power of trends to boost your sales, check out my class, Trend Forecasting for Visual Creatives. This class teaches the principles of trend tracking and you can use the skills you learn in this class year after year, month after month to predict upcoming trends.

When you predict a trend early and get it into your portfolio that means that you’ll have a better chance of standing out before the trend becomes more saturated. It pays to be early when it comes to trends!

#CreateWithCatCoq - Celestial Vibes

I created the #CreateWithCatCoq challenge to help you fill your portfolio with strategic, on-trend artwork. If one of your goals for the year is to build your portfolio, I hope you’ll join me in the weekly challenges!

This month, we’re going to focus on current and upcoming trends. This will help you jumpstart the year with valuable pieces that have the potential to sell well.

This week’s #CreateWithCatCoq challenge is to create an illustration or pattern with celestial imagery. Think, crescent moons, twinkling stars, and far-out planets. 🌙✨🪐 This trend is picking up in popularity as interest in astrology continues to climb.

Share your celestial illustration on Instagram with the hashtag  #CreateWithCatCoq, and make sure to tag me as well so I don’t miss seeing your work! I love to support you all on your creative journeys, so I look through each and every submission so I can like, comment, and share your work!

I hope your new year is off to a great start, and I can’t wait to see what you create this week.

Have a fabulous week!
