Hi First name / beautiful friends, TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND ANOTHER AND ANOTHER Okay. :) Happiest New Year and January to you <3 In The School of the Sacred Wild, the herbalism program in which I'm apprenticing, our theme for January is Rest & Dream. And boy, am I leaning into this hard. “Digital detoxes”, working with herbs that open our dream state and quiet our minds, honoring the depths that my sessions with clients are going to, and going to bed early. After being with family from November until just a week ago, I've been telling everyone, “please do not talk to me this week." I am so full, that I cannot take in more information. So because of this fullness, I was planning to rest hard this week, but when the week came to, I had so. much. energy. Honestly a ridiculous amount. I've been dreaming up new projects that I will share with you soon ~ new healing containers that allow us to go deeper and have a more profound impact than one session, a monthly membership portal that will be my most accessible work, and a new way of connecting through the ethers ~ I'll give you a hint: sound waves. I am feeling called to spend one day a week phoneless. Which was supposed to be today, but then I ended up applying to foster a dog who was about to be euthanized and needed a home, so naturally I was checking my phone all day hahah. So it goes. Try again gently, lovingly, tomorrow. For years I've had a habit of turning my phone on airplane mode from sleep to after my morning meditation / when I'm ready to greet the day. This month I'm taking it to the next level by powering my phone completely off in the evening, tucking it away, and turning it back on as late as I can the next morning. It feels really good. I wouldn't have been able to do this in the past “in case something happened” aka in case of a home invasion which would never happen but that most if not all women fear…. and THANK GOODNESS for the deep work that I have been doing with my somatic healer Melissa, because I don't feel afraid going to sleep anymore. I didn't realize how much of my brain it was taking up to check that my front door was locked 3 times. If you can relate to this, I recommend giving this little video, Dismantling the Patriarchy, a watch, too. ~ For these new seeds of projects that I am watering and tending to, for the first time, I've reached out to my incredible peers for their wisdom and expertise. In the past I've built everything myself, and this time it feels so good to collaborate and to ask, “how did you do it when you did x?” ~ Two upcoming events that I am very excited about :) The first one is virtually on January 24 with my herbalism sister Lyssandra Guerra. Lyssandra is a Holistic Nutritionist and Women’s Health Coach, Herbalism Apprentice, and founder of Native Palms Nutrition. We will be exploring the first quarter of the year through the combined insights of tarot and nutrition and gain guidance on body and well-being, ensuring your personal cycles harmonize with the season. See the details below :) The second event is in person at Lessen Space in JOSHUA TREE! This will be a 2 hour workshop with a guided meditation all around reframing this time of year. Another way to Winter. Stay tuned this week for details <3
~ I love you all and I appreciate you for spending your precious time with me, for sharing your valuable attention. In one week I turn 28, and I feel widely grateful for where I am / who I am / how I am. Thank you <3 |

Butterfly Blue Pea is one of our January herbs, and I am just obsessed with her!! She brings a subtle softness, holy and wholeness to the body. She is native to Southeast Asia an also known as Butterfly Clitoria. If you look up a photo, she looks like a purple petal vulva with clitoris! Which tells us she is - amongst other qualities - an aphrodisiac, helping us drop down from the mind and into the body, releasing stress, and opening our hearts to receive pleasure. Butterfly Blue Pea is a nourishing ally to rest and dream, and is a beauty ally for hair, skin, and nails. I have been drinking her flowers as daily infusions, teas, and adding a little Eleuthero or Chamomile for some sunshine. It has been so fun to add my herbalism knowledge into sessions with clients. Butterfly Blue Pea Latte 1 tsp BBP powder - I purchased mine from Wild Terra in Highland Park, and have heard great things about the powder from Amina Mundi. 1 scoop of honey - you know I love Activist Add any adaptogens of choice - I like to add Maca A little almond milk - I make my own, purchase from Moon Juice, or recommend Three Trees Sprinkle with lavender or dried rose petals ~ Enjoy ~ |

2. I'm very pleasantly surprised with this product, it lays so nicely on the skin with minimal and buildable coverage 4. Everyone has been complimenting my skin and I'm sorry, but this is why 5. My friend Annelise has started a newsletter sanctuary away from the Social Media Industrial Complex, which I greatly admire 6. The sweetest kitchen calendar, year after year 7. Toyo Griffith Park Flowers is where I get flowers now. I am so SICK of branding and cleanliness, and walking in here felt so calming and refreshing. This place is a genuine family business of 72 years, and I wanna give them my money! Sandy will help you out :') |
