For the month of January, my birthday month, purple was the theme color for Ade Mémoire.
This was intentional.
Purple represents wealth, wisdom, dignity, inner transformation, creativity, royalty, femininity,
and spirituality. It is also the color of the deity I love so much, Oya. Oya represents the wind,
lightning and storms, and is associated with change, transformation and destruction. She is the keeper of the graveyard and marketplace.
It is was the color my spiritual sister Risikat, asked to be present at her memorial service. Also, the color of Luisa, the floral scent celebrating my last year in my 40s.

So much transformation is happening in my life: spiritually and professionally. I am being moved into spaces that at times are uncomfortable and lonely, but my Ancestors have advised that at times my journey can't always be comfy and has to be solo.
Change can be lonely and difficult, but necessary. Just remember, we can only see the tree, but the Ancestors see the root and know what lies ahead. So, my advice to you as we close out this month is, to trust and obey the wisdom of your Ancestors.
