I have a super fun #CreateWithCatCoq challenge to share with you this week! It's a motif that I didn't have in my portfolio, but is an upcoming trend that I wanted to tap into.

One of the many keys to success in surface design is to stay on top of what's trending! So this week it's time for another trend-focused #CreateWithCatCoq challenge. This week's challenge is to create an illustration or pattern with bows and ribbons as the main motif! 🎀

 

The girly aesthetic is in, and ribbons aren't just for wearing in your hair anymore! We're going to see more dainty feminine motifs like this showing up in surface design as well. 

 

This is a fairly new trend on my radar. I didn't actually have a bow illustration in my portfolio, so in the spirit of staying on top of trends myself, I decided to whip one up in Procreate just for this week's challenge! 

I use a variety of methods for tracking upcoming trends, and one of them is to follow trend reports from big companies like Pinterest, Adobe, and more. (You can see my full list of favorite trend reports here!) 

 

Bows were featured heavily in Pinterest's 2024 trend report, and I've also started to see them popping up here and there on products. These two things show me that it's likely that this trend will actually take off.
