All the love.

Do you know how many people are rooting for you? I spent this past week surrounded by TRIO/McNair colleagues and friends at our national conference. It's my favorite event of the year. It's a chance for program staff from around the country to come together, share ideas, and energize one another around this important work we are privileged to do.

I've been working with McNair scholars for twenty years now, and one of the best parts of the job is being part of a community of people who care SO MUCH about their students. We are intent on creating the best programs possible that will PROPEL YOU in achieving higher education.

It's so much more than academics. It's building meaningful relationships. It's finding solutions to challenges. It's discovering who you are as an individual and sharing your gifts as part of a community dedicated to seeing one another thrive.

The pic below is of me and Michael Aldarondo-Jeffries, creator and host of our special gathering. Michael has been caring for TRIO/McNair students and a true visionary for more years than I can count. It was no surprise when he called to ask me what I thought about the theme for this year's conference being “the holistic scholar experience.”

Holistic it is. And when it's not, it doesn't work. It's more than just getting that A in class. It's learning how to take care and getting excited about the possibilities. TRIO/McNair will challenge and grow you, and give you the tools to make a difference. Cliché as it sounds, it's one of the most meaningful jobs I can think of - helping students create a life they love. ✨

And it's pretty special when you get a whole bunch of people in the same room who get to do the same thing all across the country. We felt just as cared for during our conference because Michael made sure of it. I hosted a “wellness discussion” that was BUBBLING OVER with ideas to make sure our students (that means YOU) get the support they need.

365 Mindful Days is a space designed to forward the mission of crafting a holistic scholar experience. Just as we encourage you to do so, we, as staff members, must be intentional with our energy; we must pause to check in and ask ourselves what we need and always complete each week with sincere gratitude. ♥️

Here's to a renewed sense of purpose in our mission. We need you to live up to your side of the bargain because you know we'll live up to ours. Take a moment to determine how you will prioritize your well-being this week. Log into the portal and share your intention - you inspire fellow TRIO/McNair scholars around the country when you do!

Keep shining.

Lynn
