Governor Lamont announced the budget adjustments for FY25 and he included $11.2 million in funding to support healthy school breakfasts for all and offering students eligible for reduced-priced meals to get them at no cost next year. The budget narrative states that “research studies show that increased school breakfast participation is associated with better academic outcomes, attendance, and participation.”

Appropriations Committee Public Hearing
on the State Department of Education funding is:

February 15, 2024
beginning at 2 pm
(in-person & zoom)
  • This is when we make our case for the funding to the committee to show support for the Governor’s budget. Legislators must hear from you either by testifying or sending in testimony.
  • Legislators want to hear why you support the meals.
  • Hartford needs to hear from Greenwich – on this critical issue! Policies such as universal meals create pathways for a just and equitable food system.
(If you would like to submit verbal testimony, that is a separate process. Reach out to me separately and I send instructions)
