LET'S TALK COVERS!

First impressions are important! Especially for a book cover.
The average person scrolls at – you've probably already scrolled!

Yep. Lightening speed.
So your cover has a big job to do - stop the scroll!

When traditionally publishing, your publisher is responsible for creating the cover. I publish under the Amazon Publishing umbrella so I have a publisher who knows a thing or two about marketing. Ha!

They sent me a questionnaire when they bought BROKEN BAYOU, including cover design questions.
Here are those questions and my answers…

1. List any visual details or images that reoccur throughout the book?
Can you guess the one I put? It's almost hidden just above my name :)

2.Describe any ideas you have for the book cover
I see it with the setting emphasized, not the people. Possibly the bayou, levees, and a rusted barrel on one bank.

3. Paste links to 3 to 5 book covers for inspiration.
See below…
(My answers are not only covers I loved but books I LOVED!)

It took 3 edits to get to the final design. The first had hardwood trees on the top that looked more New England than Louisiana so I sent the designers this image.

Louisiana Cypress Trees

And the next draft was much closer! I only asked them to add more light back in between the trees and, voila, the third time was the charm!
