Growth at The Farm
With spring just around the corner, the allure of growth and the promise of boundless opportunities are in the air. This reality is mirrored at The Farm – a sanctuary where the chance for both adventure and self-reflection exist.

As Doug shares, cabin owners can participate in as much or little of the farming activities as they choose. This can look different depending on the person or even the day.

Either way, The Farm is where rewarding activities and intentional rest converge. Thankfully, growth can come from both.

Pay us a visit at The Farm, where living at your own pace is not just a possibility but a cherished reality.

Warmly,
Jeff & Doug - The Farm at Okefenokee Co-founders

Okefenokee Swamp Day at the GA State Capitol
A couple years ago, February 8 was proclaimed as Okefenokee Swamp Day by Gov. Brian Kemp and legislators. Earlier this month, several of our partners spent the day in Atlanta, at our state capitol, to voice support for the Okefenokee.

The Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge team kicked off the day by bringing baby alligators onto the capitol floor. This attention grabber highlighted the importance of protecting the little guys and the ecologically critical refuge as a whole.

Later, representatives from the Okefenokee Swamp Park unveiled a pivotal economic study revealing the transformative impact of the pending UNESCO World Heritage Site designation and the forthcoming Okefenokee Experience. Commissioned by The Conservation Fund, the study forecasts a doubling of visitors by 2035, potentially attracting an additional 800,000 people each year. This surge is projected to create 750 long-term jobs and inject $60 million annually into the economies of Ware, Charlton and Clinch counties.

The Farm is committed to playing an impactful role in these exciting developments by supporting sustainable growth and initiatives throughout our region.

Our Chickens are Moving on Up

Introducing our latest addition: the revolutionary chicken mansion, as it’s affectionately called around The Farm. This state-of-the-art coop offers members and guests the opportunity to handpick fresh eggs straight from the source. With each egg collected, discover the essence of farm-to-table living and the joy it brings.

The coop seen above has many features, which include the capacity to house 120 chickens comfortably; waste collection bins under each roost which contribute to The Farm’s compost; and an exterior outfitted with a rainwater collection system, which provides the birds’ drinking water. Kudos to our construction team on a job well done.

Welcome Little One

One of our Pineywoods cattle decided she wasn’t going to wait until spring to expand the herd. Fortunately for us, her audience included several members of our farm crew as well as our videography partners, who captured the moment the baby bull said hello to the world. Read more about our cute new addition.

Top Crop
Lettuce introduce you to the Top Crop of the month for February. Bad pun aside, lettuce's versatility is no joke: sandwiches, wraps, salads, and the list goes on. The lettuce you see pictured above is Forellenschluss lettuce, which translates to “speckled like a trout.” Harvested recently from our Standing Gardens, this frost-hardy Austrian heirloom's unusual look has often earned it the name “freckles” in the U.S.

Do you have a unique recipe that uses lettuce as an ingredient?

Please share by tagging us on social media using the links in the footer. Look for fun food-focused events coming later this year.
