If a patient has firearms in the home clinicians need to know how to have conversations about the importance of safe storage and the options available. Join us for a panel discussion with a physician, a lawyer, and an advocate who each have been impacted by unsafe storage of firearms. Physicians and medical trainees will learn evidence-based actions they can take to have critical conversations with patients, colleagues and the community. These individualized conversations with patients can help providers make realistic and acceptable recommendations. |

In January, Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee Chair Bernie Sanders (I-VT), along with Sens. Baldwin (D-WI), Markey (D-MA), and Luján (D-NM) launched an investigation into the high price of asthma inhalers in the U.S. Approximately 25 million people in the U.S., about 1 in 13, are living with asthma. The high cost of inhalers often forces patients with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) to ration their use or be unable to afford the devices at all. This can lead to devastating short and long-term health effects. DFA’s FDA Task Force wants to support this new Congressional inquiry, as this issue impacts so many of the patients we treat, but we need your help to educate lawmakers on the real-world implications the exorbitant price of inhalers has on patients. We encourage you to share your story of a time you or a patient had difficulties accessing this critical medical device. |
