Welcome to the April edition of the Jennifer Peart Artist Newsletter!
The warmth of spring is upon us and it brings with it a renewed sense of creativity and inspiration. Springtime is a time when nature awakens! My garden seems painted with vibrant hues, inviting me to re-embrace the beauty of our living planet. After all, Spring is this season of renewal! I'm excited to share with you a lineup of upcoming workshops, current art shows, and eagerly anticipated art fairs. Yay!
Mark your calendars with one of my upcoming watercolor workshops where we'll delve into various introductory techniques, unlocking new avenues of expression and honoring this timeless tradition together. Whether you're a seasoned watercolorist or just beginning your watercolor journey, there's something for everyone to explore and discover. I love watercolor painting because it is so easy to pack up and head outside to paint the season's offerings.
I am so excited about the arrival of art fair season. My first show is on the horizon! I cannot wait to connect with a new audience in Saratoga. I look forward to connecting with another community of art enthusiasts and new artist friends. Maybe I will see some of you there!
Now, let's delve into the heart of this season's newsletter, where we explore Spring Equinox and its profound connection to the ebb and flow of creativity. Just as the seasons transition seamlessly from one to the next, so does our creative journey, guided by the rhythm of nature and the universe. I believe our inspiration and imagination come from the stars!
Springtime reminds me that creativity is not a constant but rather a fleeting thing that moves in harmony with the natural world. Like flowers that bloom with the hatching of pollinators and then all fade with the heat of summer. Like the wildflower blooms and the tides that change with the moon, my creativity must be embraced when it comes and honored when it goes.
Last weekend, I had the opportunity to drive around the picturesque Lake Tahoe, where the grandeur of nature shocked me around every turn, igniting a spark of inspiration that continued to resonate with me all week this week. The breathtaking snow-capped mountains and turquoise lake water reminded me of the infinite beauty that surrounds us at all times. I felt and still feel inspired to explore new ways of bringing this “awe” to life on my canvases.
This brings me to an exciting new endeavor – the exploration of animating my paintings and embracing my experience within the virtual realm of art. Don't worry, I will always be making traditional paintings on canvas or panels! I got you! But let me explain my spark of an idea: So I already design and sketch most of my paintings using Photoshop and a digital pen. I call them my "Frankenshops". They are just for me for planning sake, but I enjoy this process as it is instant and satisfying. It has got me thinking about how I can scan or recreate my paintings in a virtual world, accessible to all who can see my art online. As we navigate this ever-evolving landscape on planet Earth, I think with it landscape painting must too adapt. I'm thrilled to embark on this journey of innovation and discovery, where virtual art shows offer an additional platform to connect with audiences across the globe and redefine the boundaries of the modern art gallery. I am teaching myself how to draw in Blender, where I can create videos and shots that pan around my dimensional drawing. I'm also playing with animation tools to animate scans of my 2-dimensional paintings. We'll see how it goes! I am eager for feedback once I start sharing!
So, as we welcome the arrival of spring and all the possibilities it holds, let's embrace the transformative power of innovation and creativity - allowing ourselves to be swept away by the endless possibilities that come with the starry sparkle of new beginnings.
