Have you ever had back pain? Knee pain? Experienced Covid? What about neck pain or headaches? The patient journey in our current healthcare system can be a bit frustrating. I truly appreciate those who have spent the time with me to share their stories. Listen today to their advice and lessons. Some of them could even save your life (and I'm not just being dramatic).
It's Time to Continue Fighting for Your Healthcare.
Why Does This Matter?
Well, have you ever been to the doctor to wait 40+ minutes and get maybe 5 minutes of time. Have you ever needed a MRI or additional testing and had to wait months for insurance approval? Have you even eventually realized it is almost as easy just to pay for the testing yourself? (and probably costs about the same either way - so to be honest, what was your insurance helping you with anyway??).
I'm going to share the story behind Danny Matta's reason for going Cash Pay as a Physical Therapist. Because to be honest, he spoke the words right out of my head…
“Why a Cash Pay Business?”
I've had patients with exceptional insurance – yes, $0 copay for PT –yet still choose a cash-based clinic, paying entirely out of pocket. Why? The answer is simple: quality and personalized care. These patients first go to a 'PT mill' covered by insurance. But the progress is slow, and they feel like just another number. Some of them have goals like returning to high-level sports. Yet at the PT Mill, they feel like their needs are misunderstood.
So, they switched to a cash-only PT. The difference? As a cash-based therapist, I deeply understand the sport. I dedicate my undivided attention to their complex needs. Unlike the PT mill, where they get treated like a generic case.
So think about it… It's not just about the money. Patients invest in a service that genuinely understands and addresses their unique challenges. Also, at a cash-based clinic, the therapists aren't juggling multiple patients. They have the capacity to think critically and offer focused, effective treatment. So, why would someone consider a cash-only PT, even with great insurance? Because when it comes to health, especially for active, athletic individuals, personalized care trumps all. That's what cash-based clinics excel at. The DEMAND for high quality and niche service."
And that summarizes why I do what I do
and don't deal with billing insurance companies.
