"EVERYONE NEEDS A MIDTOWN SPOT" |
|
WHERE: Midtown, Manhattan, Park Avenue, between 53rd and 54th. Casa Lever sits on the ground floor of the seminal international-style skyscraper, Lever House, of which the AIA Guide to New York City says, “This is where the glass curtain wall began.” WHAT: Well-designed, iconic, AIA, Milanese Italian, elevated, art, historic, refined but not stuffy, slick/sexy bar, good food & serene scene. Even the carpet was spot on. SIT SCORE: 8.4/10 |
|
- Why Here: Everyone needs a Midtown spot. Power lunch/post-work or pre-event dinner. It's mod y'all. The curved walls inch towards the molded ceiling’s hexagonal patterns with splashes of colorful blue chip art. You sit in the bar area and they're attentive. Discerning. Details are dialed. Or, you sit in a retro, nightclub-style black leather–lined alcove booths and feel like you run the city. The marble counter is mesmerizing. In better weather, the outdoor patio with big white umbrellas, is the quintessential Midtown al fresco moment.
- Design: Modern with mid-century odes. Think iconic. Big substantive art, warm fabrics, curves, marbles, solid woods, and finishes with soft lighting.
- Longevity of Sit: 2-4+ hour dinner or a quick drink but you won't want to leave.
- What You'll Hear: Deals, Air Rights, IPOs, Midtown things but also great music.
- What Could Happen Next?: Have a nightcap at Monkey Bar, hit a show, preferably Hadestown, or saunter over to Cartier and try on one of these.
*Side Note: It was raining when I left, so they offered me a custom Casa Lever umbrella. Not only is the umbrella cool, big, red, chrome handle, but this, is the attention to detail and service that cements an incredible experience. Reference: "A Grace Note". |
