Remember a couple of weeks ago when I said that I felt a little in survival mode after my husband, son, and I all caught a bug?

Well that bug turned into a pretty nasty chest infection for me so last week was a ROUGH one - I’m really hoping there’s no more bugs around here for a while now 🤞🏻

Okay let’s dig into this week’s digest where I share how grateful I am that it feels easeful for me to take a sick day when needed in my business, some films I’ve loved recently, and a specific breakdown of how I price my 1:1 containers too…

Taking the damn sick day: One of the best parts about being self employed? You’re in control of your schedule and time and you don’t need anyone else’s permission to take a sick day when you need one.

But the flip side to that freedom? There’s also no one else who can do your work for you, so when you’re out of the game nothing is able to get done (unless you have a team of course, but I’m very intentionally a solopreneur).

Like I said, last week was ROUGH and I was getting only a couple of broken hours of sleep a night at the start of the week as my cough was that bad.

On Monday I had to completely re-assess my workload for the week: I couldn’t record the usual private podcast that I do for YS&SB members at the start of the week and I also had to push recording my public podcasts off my schedule too.

I used to feel so anxious about taking sick days, both because I hate to ‘let people down’ but also because my business was shaped in a way that it was incredibly disruptive for me to need to move things around because my calendar was so full of calls.

Things couldn’t be more different these days though - yes some things were moved around and delivered a few days later than planned, but there were no major consequences to needing to make those adjustments because my business is now built in a way that expects me to be a human being with needs and for that I am so grateful.

Takeaway for you: The next time that you need to take a sick day? Let yourself rest. The world won’t end if you need to be out of office for a few days or delay a deliverable - show yourself the same compassion and grace that you would show anyone else.

Movie nights: One of my favourite ways to wind down and relax in the evenings recently has been by curling up on the sofa with a good film. I watched Past Lives which I adored, I also really enjoyed You Hurt My Feelings, and I’ve also watched Anyone But You three times recently as I’m a sucker for a good rom-com. If you have a film you’ve loved recently that you’d love to recommend? Hit reply and let me know 🎬

Takeaway for you: What’s your favourite way to switch off, relax, and recharge your tank right now? How can you continue to joyfully make space for it each week?

How I price my 1:1 containers: Are you ever super curious about how people make pricing decisions in their business? I thought today that I would break down for you how I priced my own 1:1 containers in case it can be interesting for you too.

I have two 1:1 containers: Quarterly Coaching, a year long 1:1 container, and Get Unstuck & Thrive, a three month 1:1 container.

Quarterly coaching includes: Four 1:1 calls (a call every 3 months), weekly Voxer support for 12 months, and lifetime access to YS&SB.

Get Unstuck & Thrive includes: One 1:1 call, weekly Voxer support for 3 months, and lifetime access to YS&SB.

And if you're wondering what I mean by Voxer support? It's a voice and text messaging app, similar to WhatsApp, where my clients and I can send voice notes back and forth each week to support them in their journey. It offers the same depth of a 1:1 call but with the flexibility of asynchronous messaging, therefore my clients don't need to wait for a scheduled call in the calendar to feel deeply supported in their business.

If you feel claustrophobic when you see too many calls in your calendar I really recommend exploring how asynchronous communication could create more impact and ease in your business.

And my yearlong container is £4950 and Get Unstuck & Thrive is £2500.

Now I don’t price my offerings with a specific price breakdown of each deliverable in the container because if I did that the package would be WAY more and the package is sold as a whole, not as individual deliverables.

For quarterly coaching if I priced everything individually and added it all up it would be around £9000, whereas I love that my clients pay basically half of that for all of the deep support and guidance they find through my year long container.

Though let’s be honest, that total number is still kind of made up. All pricing is. It’s just me trying to figure out what I would charge individually for each piece of the container, so I then have an initial number to be working with.

So then how do I get to £4950, you may be wondering?

What I do instead to figure out my pricing is ask myself: how much do I need to charge for this offering to be sustainable for me? What is my capacity for 1:1 clients and how much do I need to make from that workload for it to make sense for me financially?

And with the portion of my income I need to make a year from client work and the capacity and availability I have in my schedule, £4950 is sustainable for me in this season.

And then when it comes to Get Unstuck & Thrive I did the same maths. If I broke it down to the specific deliverables it would be around £3800 - but doing the same maths of my capacity and what I need to make for it to be sustainable for me financially, £2500 felt aligned as the price - especially as for Get Unstuck & Thrive the pricing needed to make sense in my offering suite alongside what the investment is for YS&SB

As you can see, it isn’t a sure science.

And the truth is, there is no ‘right’ or ‘perfect’ decision. I've been pricing my offers for a decade now and at some point you just have to make an aligned, intentional decision and move forward from there.

Often the easiest maths is just: how much do you want to make a year total from the container divided by the amount of total clients you have the capacity to work with and then working with or towards that number depending on how aligned it feels for you to charge that.

Takeaway for you: Are your offerings priced in a way that makes sense for your financial goals and your energetic boundaries and needs too?

There's also a YS&SB coaching session all about pricing your services and offerings with intention that I'm sharing free access to if it can be supportive for you in your business 👇
