Second, when I start the process, I find it most helpful to ask questions like:
“Does this item still fit my style?”
“Do I need it?”
“What would I use if I didn't have it?”
This makes it easier to decide what items stay, and what items don't.
Third, don't be afraid to give something new life by reinventing it. I'm a big believer in refinishing furnishings, changing out pillow covers, or even just changing out photos in frames to give a space a new look.
Not only is this a cost-effective way to refresh and revitalize your space, it's a great way to simply reinvent the items you already have.
And last, but not least, don't be afraid to let some things go. If they no longer tell your story, don't bring you joy, or simply don't fit your space then let them go and make room for pieces that will fit your space.
For me, part of the joy of this season is less about getting rid of things and more about simplifying spaces so the items which remain stand out and bring you joy every day.
