NOTES FROM PENNY
NEUROPLASTICITY and the
MOST VALUABLE WAY TO TRAIN:

If you have been in my classes you have heard me speak about "neuroplasticity" in the brain. It is, in short a way in which the synapses in the brain can help regenerate to the extent of significantly improving memory. The scientific world is excited about what this can mean to ward off conditions such as Alzheimers.

·
A Dancer must be very willing to put their ego on the shelf to be the best student at any age. Believe it or not, STRUGGLE is important for maximum learning. It means you are at the edge of your understanding. The synapses in the brain begin to fire actively.

·
Research shows that those who are always pushing to learn more than they are seemingly capable of, actually learn best and the most. Science has also found that this particular practice of feeling as though you are always making mistakes, struggling to keep up in class and only being successful some of the time is ACTUALLY the optimum way for the brain (for dancers also the body) to learn the best and the most.

·
So to those of you who think I am a hard teacher who pushes you, YOU ARE WELCOME! Lol Keep coming to class, keep working hard MIND/Body/SPIRIT and you will LOVE the results! Enjoy the struggle!
