Hello and welcome to the winter edition of Transmissions from Seattle! Are we all ready for spring?

Here in my cloudy corner of the of the world, I've loved spending time teaching myself piano during the slower work months of the year. I've found that channeling creative energy into non-photographic endeavors has invigorated the way I see the world.

Some of my favorite things as of late…

Philip Glass's new solo record is transcendent.

The 2023 release Dogsbody by Model/Actriz is fantastic-- think The Cure meets Liars meets The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Wim Wenders's new movie Perfect Days is a must see. I caught it at SIFF a few rainy Mondays ago with my friends Jovelle and Ramon and it left me changed.

I'll sign off here and leave you with a selection of work from a deceptively busy couple of months. See you all in the spring!
A Visit to Station 31

Fire lieutenant, chef and friend Isaac Rivera invited me for a tour of station 31 in north Seattle. I've always respected the work firefighters do and learned so much on this little field trip.

Station 31 is currently set up in a temporary hq while their new one is built, which is slated for completion in 2025.
New Work for Turo

In collaboration with The Luupe, I embarked on a low key adventure in a Rivian R1S. Thanks to my talented and photogenic friends Andy, Tess and Adam for modeling on this one!

A Night with Taylor Tomlinson

I was stoked to get a call from the culture desk at NYT to photograph comedian and future late night host Taylor Tomlinson on her sold out run in Seattle. Sadly, the story format shifted and the photos never ran-- it happens!

Taylor was amazing to work with. Her unique talent for alchemizing utter tragedy into the kind of laughter that leaves your cheeks sore is special.

In the Garden With Julia Quinn, Author of Bridgerton

In September, I had the opportunity to photograph the incredibly charming Julia Quinn at home for a German publication. Unfortunately, the publication folded before the story published. Season 3 of Bridgerton premieres in May!

Portraits for Microsoft

My last shoot in 2023 was a short but sweet one with the lovely Dee Templeton, a Microsoft executive who recently joined the OpenAI Board as a non-voting observer.
