How does a minoritised culture, a language on the margins, narrate reality? The festival Òc Cultura 2023 challenges and explores, from the present day, if “jo sò er aute”, if “I am the other”, a dilemma which sparks a research towards a deeper understanding of identity.

Note: this newsletter was originally published only in Occitan, because the public of the festival are the citizens of Lleida. It's been translated into English in March 2024 only for dissemination purposes

What mirror does the Occitan culture look in? Who/what is the OTHER of Occitania? Is it French culture, Spanish culture, Catalan culture, Italian culture, or are they globalisation and industrialisation? We dive, through the means of music, comedy and radio, into the epicenter of Occitan culture, in order to get to know the alternative which a minoritised culture offers to universal narratives.
