On Monday, May 20, Fair Chance will host our 2024 Roundtable, sponsored and hosted by Accenture. Join us for an evening of community building that will bring together Fair Chance staff and board, partners, community leaders, and supporters for food and insightful conversation about today's pressing issues facing children, youth, and families across our region.

 

On Wednesday, April 10, Fair Chance and national law firm BakerHostetler co-hosted the webinar, Race-Based Grantmaking and Charitable Activities: Protected First Amendment Speech or Prohibited Racial Exclusion? Fair Chance centers racial equity in our work and many of the nonprofits in our network provide programming to address racial barriers and historic injustices, making this conversation very timely. Over 300 attendees from the legal, philanthropic, and nonprofit sectors across the country joined us for an overview on what recent developments in the legal landscape mean for nonprofits and foundations engaged in race-conscious programming.

Pathways Partner Ayanna Dawkins of Diplomatic Perspective

The Pathways Partnership is a free, 8-month program for leaders of nonprofits (typically with budgets between $50K-$250K) that serve children, youth, and families in communities impacted by racism, discrimination, and poverty in Washington, DC. The program deepens nonprofit leaders’ knowledge and skills across four key areas: Board Development, Fundraising, Leadership & Management, and Program Evaluation. Leaders also gain the tools and support to advance the organization’s mission, stability, and growth. 100% of of leaders say the Pathways Partnership increased confidence in their ability to successfully adapt to challenges.

Philanthropist MacKenzie Scott recently awarded 361 nonprofits across the country grants through the Yield Giving Open Call. Yield Giving was created by Scott to distribute funding to nonprofits to use to their discretion to achieve their mission. Over $17,300,000,000 has been awarded to over 2,300 nonprofits to date.

 

Four Fair Chance alumni were among the organizations selected through the Open Call: Access Youth, Dance Institute of Washington, New Futures, and Life Pieces to Masterpieces. Each organization received $2,000,000 to advance their vital work with youth in our region. 

 

Fair Chance is proud to see these organizations receive such recognition. It has been an honor to see the continued growth of these organizations since their partnerships (ranging from 2007-2019). We look forward to seeing the even greater impact they will achieve with this investment.
