sam's digest — a weekly newsletter of my 3 favorite architectural gems on the market in los angeles, + raw life updates. issue 8. 3/8/24.

//    the mood & vibes this week

— it's the second week of march. and things are delicious.
— i'm writing this to you from my little haus in topanga on thursday evening. we're having a bit of a flash storm moment, after a gorgeous day today. it rained hard yesterday, so everything was insanely crisp, blue, and gorgeous.
— living here is a continuous cycle of wonder. LA certainly has pockets of nature, but in the five years i've been here, i've never felt as immersed. beforehand … i always felt that the city came first, and nature was always an afterthought, placed sparingly to soften the edges. and that's not necessarily how i want to live. i've always wanted to be in a place where the balance is skewed in the opposite direction. i can't even tell you how soothing it is to my nervous system for that finally to be true.
— my days now consist of me venturing out of the canyon for stimulation + real estate things, and coming back to reset. to escape. to sink into my clawfoot tub for the fourth epsom salt bath this week (which is on the calendar for tonight, after i finish writing this to you).
— in terms of real estate, it's been busy. we launched three listings this week on team bryant \ reichling. the first: call me by your name, but make it north of the boulevard in los feliz (for $2M). the second: an off-market colonial revival. the third: backyard p*rn in windsor square for $4M. i like the buzz of big listing weeks, it's thrilling. & toured some cuties with my buyers in echo park/atwater.
— overall … an equal mix of casual hibernation & doing all the things. sending you love from my little home in the canyon.

//    three things i love (tours, objects, people)

a cabin in topanga that i found while scrolling on pinterest. i'd like to live here with my partner and three kids and a donkey (a la my canyon friend sophie, who quite literally has a donkey named stan. it's iconic).
moona star in topanga is essentially your cool boho mom friend's house under oak trees overlooking the creek, but you can buy everything inside. i love every little trinket in there so much.
if you don't already follow @mattxiv, go do so promptly! as a queer person plugged into social+climate justice, it's awesome to have thought leadership online that just gets it. highly recommend.
