March Prompt 1 Check-In
TIME
Here's some more time inspiration for you in the form of music (I have a lot of favorites in this playlist including the version of “Forever Young” that's on there!) and here's what we've been creating lately…

INSPIRATION FROM OUR COMMUNITY
“I thought about a lot of different things for the prompt ‘color.’ I love color  -- bright fluorescent colors dark muted colors I just love color and most of my paintings are full of it in general! So although I had a lot of ideas for this week's prompt I decided to go simple and do two pages with just swatches of color. For the first I did various pinks. I squeezed the paints directly  on the paper and spread them across with a plastic take-out  knife. For the second page I did the same with blues. It's hard to tell from the photo but the top color is a shimmering paint that shows blue depending upon how the light hits it. The only other marks on the pages are pencil marks to divide the page. I thought about erasing them but I ended up kind of liking them for some reason!” - CLAUDIA Below her sketchbook pages are some of her previous colorful works she has created!

“Had lots of fun with this one earlier in the week with colored squares using a glazing technique and another abstract which I used the same colors plus a few shimmers using random shapes and placemats. I finished the week out today with a ‘cottage’ painting luncheon. Had a wonderful time with my oldest friend.” - KAREN

“I started with painting a black background. I pressed plastic wrap in the wet paint to give it some texture. Then I played around with palette knives, bubble wrap, and brushes. I like the metallics. Though I'm not thrilled with the result, it was a fun exercise. Acrylic." - MITZI

“Catching up on prompts. First prompt was Dream. Don't have any magazines to cut up so decided to try a digital vision board.” - ARCHNA I love the idea of doing a digital vision board or collage. Archna created this in Canva if anyone wants to try it out too!

For “color” I took inspiration from one of my favorite songs, “Colours” by Thunder Jackson. I love the line: “I’ve been, dreaming of colors that won’t wash out” and this is what those lyrics look like to me 🖤🌈 It was so much fun to put on some good music and take some time to play with paints! I highly recommend :) Here's a short time lapse process video to the song.

I've been taking my time thinking about what I want to do for “time”! I really like the idea of drawing / painting the same subject in different amounts of time…just need to settle on a subject! I'm curious to see how you interpreted our latest prompt and next Friday you'll receive the second prompt for the month. In the meantime, keep on creating and I will talk to you soon!
