Hello First name / friend,

This week I was playing around on Pinterest when I came across a pin that someone had created of one of my art journal pages I'd originally posted to Instagram. The woman had pinned it to a board she titled “Delight”. I think a delight board is such a lovely idea, don't you? I felt both happy and grateful that my artwork is one of the things that delights her. Here are two things, one older and one newer, that delight me:

On the left is my Kindle reader case. One day a few years ago I felt a sudden inspiration to paint it. Listening to my intuition, I grabbed my acrylics and painted the tree on the rather bland case cover to brighten it up. Painting on objects makes me feel like a kid again! It feels a bit against the rules and delightful all at the same time!

On the right is a beautiful little book I received from my husband as a Christmas gift:  Finding Your Way: Meditations, Thoughts and Wisdom for Living an Authentic Life by Sharon Salzberg. I've read several of her wonderful books before and I love this one for its illustrations and bite-sized yet powerful wisdom. Plus, who could resist the gold accents on the cover?

Prompt: In a journal or sketchbook, make a list of things that delight you. Pick one thing to do this week. Take delight in your activity - be fully present to appreciate it. (One of my favourite things to delight in is watching the hummingbirds at my feeder from my kitchen window.) If you want to take it further, you can capture your delight in a photo, drawing or writing.

If you're new to this list or simply missed last week's email “Flourish”,
you can read it here:

       May you be well,

Selfie taken this weekend in Strathcona Provincial park as I was snowshoeing with my daughter. Look how sun is between the treetops, like two chopsticks are gently holding it up in the sky. I delighted in the fat snowflakes, the silence/softness the snow brings, my daughter's happiness and the chai tea latte we brought in a thermos and drank under the trees.
