Hello First name / friend,

Have you heard the podcast, On Being with Krista Tippet? When I'm on long drives, (a rarity for me), I love listening to thoughtful interviews and this one is fantastic.

I was reminded of Tippet's wonderful 2023 interview with poet Ada Limón when I was out trail running recently and I heard the chorus of frogs at Melda's marsh in Seal Bay Park. I've included the poem in both writing and audio formats below. I relate so much more to poetry when I can hear it. Listen to Limón, the 24th Poet Laureate of the United States, read her poem Sanctuary to a live audience. The button below will take you to the audio. Further down in the email is a link to the entire interview, which I highly recommend.

Sanctuary by Ada Limón

Suppose it’s easy to slip
              into another’s green skin,
bury yourself in leaves

and wait for a breaking,
              a breaking open, a breaking
out. I have, before, been

tricked into believing
I could be both an I
and the world. The great eye

of the world is both gaze
              and gloss. To be swallowed
by being seen. A dream.

To be made whole
              by being not a witness,
but witnessed.

Thank you for reading and sharing in this mindfulness journey. If you'd like to connect, reply to this email or visit our community Facebook group.

       May you be well,
-Nicole
