Greetings Community,

As we celebrate Women's History Month, we reflect on the trailblazing women of color who defied societal limits and shattered glass ceilings. From the civil rights movement to corporate boardrooms, these fierce leaders overcame immense obstacles to blaze new paths for generations to come.

In this month's newsletter, we honor five extraordinary women whose courage, brilliance and tenacity left an indelible mark. Their stories inspire us to dream bigger and remind us that no barrier is insurmountable when we lead with purpose and conviction.

But the fight for equity is far from over. We talked with Cinnamongirls to understand their thoughts on the challenges girls and women have faced across history. Hear directly from Cinnamongirls on what obstacles they think still need to be overcome for girls and women.

Cinnamongirls Speak Out on Breaking Barriers

"Girls and women still need equal representation in everyday life but especially in politics and government. There are unfair laws that get passed that affect women and girls, but not enough women are in positions to vote on these issues." - Maia, 11, Passport Book Club

“I think that an obstacle women and girls still need to overcome is getting our voices heard. Even in schools where girls are asked to speak up, it’s still easy to get talked over unless you're yelling or repeating what you’ve said multiple times. A way we can overcome this is by raising our hands and talking even when we’re scared to and demanding our voices be heard in the classroom." - Kendall, 14, Write Your Story

“Women and girls constantly feel the need to conform at the expense of their own comfort and dignity. I believe that we should all work to surpass our fears of judgment, and learn to express ourselves freely, regardless of outside opinions.” - Favianna, 14, Travelgirl Peru

“Women have come a long way and proven that we can accomplish anything, yet we are still perceived as less than or not as capable as a man. Women are harassed, minimally represented in leadership roles, and have restricted rights to our own bodies. These are just some of the obstacles women and girls face in the world. But even after all of the discrimination we endure, we continue to persevere and do incredible things.” - Izzy, 17, Write Your Story

At Cinnamongirl Inc., we are committed to empowering the next generation of barrier-breaking female trailblazers. By fostering a sisterhood of unstoppable girls, we equip them with the skills, confidence and vision to fearlessly pursue their dreams and become catalysts for change.

Join us as we celebrate those who came before and those who will shape our future. Because when girls rise, we all rise.
