sam's digest — a weekly newsletter of my 3 favorite architectural gems on the market in los angeles, + raw life updates. issue 10. 3/22/24.

//    the mood & vibes this week

— i'm writing this to you from my family's home in northern california (!). taking a week to visit up here with my sister + mom + stepdad. we drove up yesterday.
— this week has been lovely thus far. an equal mix of still moments in the canyon and running around LA. on wednesday, i toured two properties in topanga with clients, both listed north of $2M with serious compound energy. so gorgeous.
— speaking of … the market has been bananas. last week, i offered on two houses that each received over 30 other offers. & we just listed some fabu houses on our team; find them here.
— also! something wild is going on in the canyon i feel like you should know about. there are two ways to access topanga: one road that curves up from pacific coast highway, and one road from the valley floor. the road up from PCH, an incredibly scenic route that carves through million-year-old boulders and soaring cliffs, has been impassible for the last two weeks. there was an epic rockslide that's deposited a mountain of earth onto the road. this slide came down mere hours after i drove up to the canyon, which is wild. it's looking like it won't be opened until after april; access is through the valley route.
— this is all to say: even though the slide is a huge inconvenience, i also freaking love it. this is what happens when you're in the throes of mother nature. i love that i'm up here enough, removed enough, where something like this could happen. so in the spirit of leaning in, two nights ago, i walked the closed boulevard and shot some sunset film on my new camera, a vintage olympus from the 90s. it was lovely, and just one of the myriad of reasons i feel quite suited to living in topanga canyon.
