Bench mystery solved!
Image item
In early March the City of Edinburgh Council delivered to us a bench, they were not sure where it belonged and have had it in storage for a good few months.

Having done some research, I managed to track down and make contact with the person named on the bench - Liz Landsman.

Liz let me know that the bench was installed in Lauriston Castle Gardens some years ago, as part of a cancer awareness campaign. The inscription says -'Liz Landsman loved sitting here and still does thanks to research into cancer'. And includes details of how to donate to Cancer Research UK. Liz was pleased to hear that the bench has been well cared for.

We've let the Council know where the bench belongs, and we hope they will return it to its lovely setting in due course.

Each issue we'll feature an aspect of the centre which we think will be of interest. It might be a person, an object, a centre group, an expression of a view about the centre or maybe even some aspect of our history.

In our front garden is a map of the local area, have you stopped to have a look at it before? If not, it is well worth doing so.

The map was developed some years ago, and details twenty four places of interest, starting at our very own Community Centre and ending at nearby Nelson Hall.
