Reducing Waste During
My Design, Packaging + Shipping Process

When we think about Earth Day and sustainability in terms of businesses, it's easy to focus only on plastic-free packaging. While the packaging materials I choose are important, I also make Hazelmade sustainable by reducing waste from the moment I design a product until I ship it to you. Here are a few ways I make Hazelmade sustainable during every part of the design, packaging and shipping processes.

Repurposed
shipping materials
I partner with an framing shop near my studio to collect their excess shipping supplies (like bubble wrap, filler paper, etc). Sourcing reusable materials cuts down on waste and cost. It takes extra time to gather, sort and store these materials but it's worth it to me. Also, you can reuse these shipping materials too!

I am passionate that sustainability doesn't start and end at one step of the process. I want to keep sustainability in my mind throughout my entire design, packaging, and shipping processes. If you have any ideas of how Hazelmade could be even more sustainable, please reach out with your feedback. And, if you would like to learn about my journey to plastic-free packaging, you can read about it here.
