Hey First name / bestie
So I'm on vacation heading to dinner, having just recently watched the Chronicles of Narnia, and all I can think about is that scene where Peter yells, “For Narnia” and then runs into battle. And for some reason, while on the elevator I decide that is the perfect time to recreate that scene.

As the elevator doors open that's exactly what I do (although I don't have a real sword) and lo and behold there's a nice old man standing right outside the elevator doors (yes, he's looking at me like I'm crazy, and so are my sisters who at this point shouldn't be suprised by my shenanigans). But he just gives me a smile and goes on his merry way.

That is until 4 days later near the end of my vacation I meet this old man again (by the elevators, of course) and he looks at me and goes, “You're that Narnia girl”. So that is the story of how I became know as the weird Narnia girl to a friendly old man on vacation circa 2011.

Okay, so now you’re probably wondering “why the heck are you telling me that Chelsea?” or “does this email even have a point”?

(It does, I promise!!)

Ooooor, perhaps it gave you a short yet peaceful escape from all of “the things” running around in your mind, and now you feel like we know each other a little better. (👈🏻Hopefully this one.)

This leads me nicely to chat to you about the most powerful type of content that you need to be using in your Podcasts if you want to build a loyal community that hangs onto every word you say each and every episode…

Storytelling.

People are curious by nature and will absolutely want to know more about whatever you are talking about if there is a personal story attached to it. It doesn’t matter whether it's your story, your clients or someone else’s, your audience will be hooked and eager to know more!

Psychologists have discussed the idea of “middle storytelling” which is kinda self-explanatory. You only have a matter of seconds to grab your audience’s attention so, in order to stop people in their tracks whilst they’re mid doom-scrolling, you should use a killer hook from the MIDDLE of the story. This peaks their interest and decreases the chance of them dropping out whilst listening to the beginning, whilst also being eager to get to the end.

For some inspo to get your creative juices flowing, amazing examples of this can be found on Steven Bartlett’s podcast promo reels!

💡Hot Tip
If you are someone who always finds themselves struggling to find good lighting and is left feeling disappointed and embarrassed by the quality of your videos, you’re going to love what I’m about to tell you.

Different skin tones suit different strengths of lighting so what better way to find the right lighting for you than using your own hand?!

Simply hold your hand up in front of your phone camera wherever you’re filming and turn in a circle to see which angle is the clearest.

Honestly, this one is extremely simple but it’s something that we both take for granted sometimes and that is: moments of calm. We spend SO much time getting laser focused on how to take our business / podcast to the next level that sometimes we forget to take a step back and enjoy the stage of the journey that we are currently in.

I know this might sound cringe, but you used to dream of being exactly where you are now so please don’t let the moment pass you by unnoticed, you deserve to recognise how much you have achieved, no matter how it compares to everyone else in your industry or on social media.

It’s okay to go slow even when everyone else is speeding up, and it’s okay to up the ante when everyone else is slowing down. This is 100% your personal journey.

With that being said, what era do you feel as though you are in right now, hit reply and let me know!!

Until next time 🫶
