Advocacy Award Nominations OPEN Now!
Doctors for America (DFA) was founded in 2009 to mobilize doctors and medical students in putting patients over politics to improve the health of our patients, communities and our nation. The National Physicians Alliance (NPA) started in 2005 to create research and education programs that promote health and foster active engagement of physicians with their communities to achieve high quality, affordable health care for all. To maximize synergy and outcomes, NPA merged with DFA in 2019.
The Founders Awards were established in 2021 to celebrate the two organizations that make up Doctors for America. These awards will honor excellence in patient advocacy, which is the basic tenant of each founding organization. There are five categories for this year's Founders Awards:
1) Medical Student Advocate, 2) Resident/Fellow Advocate, 3) Physician Advocate, 4) Retired Physician Advocate, 5) a Copello Fellow and 6) a Health Advocate (non-physician). Note: There will be two Copello Fellows recognized from the following Cohorts: 2022/23 and 2023/24.
You may nominate yourself or another advocate for this honor. All nominees will be recognized at DFA’s National Leadership Conference at an awards ceremony on Friday, June 7, 2024.
