On April 13th, Music Maker Workshops proudly hosted a Spotify album release party, showcasing the incredible musical talents of its students. 
 
The event marked the culmination of weeks of hard work and creativity. The release party featured 18 original songs spanning a diverse array of musical styles from young students to adults.  "Songwriting Sessions 2024," was the result of a comprehensive workshop that included two sessions focused on songwriting formula, a recording session, and a listening party. 
 
"Songwriting Sessions 2024" is now available on streaming platforms such as Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Music, offering listeners a glimpse into the creativity and passion of Music Maker's emerging artists. Join us in celebrating the talent and creativity of these local musicians.

MMW Rock Bands at the Rebel Lounge 
Join us on May 11th as the MMW Rock Bands return to the Rebel Lounge, voted on Billboardโ€™s list of the top music venues in the world! Div I-III bands, the MMW House Band and SOL will be performing the hits from the 80's, 90's, 00's and 2010's for what promises to be an amazing afternoon you won't want to miss!

In May's Podcast Episode, meet adult Rock Band veteran, Carlos Tosca and glean some insight into music as a "Mindful Activity". Carlos shares his experience developing his music within our community, taking lessons, playing in multiple incarnations of bands, and getting out to perform!

Q: What is your favorite part of taking music lessons at Music Makers?
A: Ms. Andrea is such a great teacher.  I love the cello choir!  My cello journey is so much farther along since beginning to play with other cellists. I also really appreciate how on top of everything MMW is.
 
Q: What is your favorite song to play and why?
A: Changes monthly!

Q: What inspired you to take music lessons?
A: I initially wanted to develop more dexterity in my left hand and to help my brain age well.

Q: Most memorable musical moment?
A: One of the other younger students was inspired by me at a recital saying "I didn't know they let Grandmas play the cello!"                                                                                                                                   
Q: What are your future musical goals? 
A:  I plan to continue my journey.  I'd like to start the Bach suites this year.                                                                                                                     
Q: Which famous musician would you choose to meet?
A:  Mary Chapin Carpenter

Q: What are three fun facts about yourself?
A:  I'm a retired midwife, my other hobby is weaving, I'm a great cook!

Q: What is your favorite part of taking music lessons at Music Makers?
A. Learning how to play any new piece on the piano with Dr. Kuo is my favorite part of taking new lessons at Music Makers.
 
Q: What is your favorite song to place, and why?
A: Mozart variation #12, Twinkle Twinkle little star, because it has the same notes for all the variations.
 
Q: What inspired you to take music lessons?
A: My parents realized I love music and sometimes like to make my own songs and sing in my room since I was 5 years old.
 
Q: What is your most memorable musical moment?
A: My first recital at Music Makers was when I played "Old McDonald had a farm" on the piano. It is most memorable.
 
Q: What are your future musical goals?
A: I want to be a great Pianist like Franz Liszt because I like playing some of his music.

Q: Which famous musician would you choose to meet?
A. Martha Argerich, who is widely regarded as the greatest living pianist in the world today, is the one I would like to meet.
 
Q: What are some fun facts about yourself?
A: I like playing piano and basketball. Also I like reading fiction books.

A: I love the way my teacher challenges and encourages to try new songs and do better.

Q: What is your favorite song to play and why?
A: My favorite song to sing is Burn cause it challenges me and is fun to sing

Q: What inspired you to take music lessons?
A: Drama in school - I love theatre and wanted to improve my voice.

A: I love making crafts. I love to swim and I love to act.

A: All of the MMW teachers have been patient with me.
 
Q: What is your favorite song to play and why?
A: Beauty and the Beast because it's light and fun to play.
 
Q: What inspired you to take music lessons?
A: My dad, who played guitar.
 
Q: Most memorable musical moment?
A: My first recital 4-5 years ago.
 
Q: What are your future musical goals?
A: To play Hedwig's Theme blindfolded.
 
Q: Which famous musician would you choose to meet?
A: Mozart
 
Q: What are three fun facts about yourself?
A: I was in school Spelling Bee, was top reader, and I am learning Archery.
