Ultradian Rhythms

Most of us are familiar with our ”circadian rhythms” or our sleep cycles - an essential physiological process that allows the body to rest, repair and reset for the next day. 
 
But, did you know that there is an even more important rhythmic process that comes well before you lie down in bed at night?
 
Ultradian Rhythms are cycles of energy expenditure and recovery that occur during the day and that regulate every aspect of your wellbeing, including your sleep quality, energy levels and immunity. 
 
When we disrupt or ignore our ultradian rhythms we are setting ourselves up for an energy crisis in which we are constantly working to catch up or to recover our energy, we become highly dependent upon caffeine and stimulants to keep us going, and we rely on barely enough or low-quality sleep to get us through the day. 🥱
 
In essence, when we ignore our ultradian rhythms, we ignore our wellbeing. 
  • Healthy Ultradian Rhythms = a lifetime of abundant energy, deep restorative sleep, optimistic mindset and a lower probability of disease. 🤩
  • Unhealthy Ultradian Rhythms = a lifetime of energy depletion, crashing, poor quality sleep, hormonal imbalances, depression, anxiety, addictions and a higher probability disease. 😮‍💨
