Capital Art Fair Tshwane
VANSA was honoured to witness history being made as the Capital Art Fair Tshwane launched its inaugural art fair in South Africa's administrative capital city this past weekend. Marketing Manager of Capital Art Fair Tshwane, Thobile Dlamini cited the fair as a weekend-long affair of local contemporary art where patrons could engage with both local independent artists and highly critically acclaimed prominent artists. Dlamini also positioned Tshwane as an "emerging voice within the art landscape and be a global art conversation leader." Visit their

VANSA Intellectual Property and Copyright Toolkit
In the past year, VANSA published its very own Intellectual Property and Copyright Toolkit that was intended to serve as a handbook for the visual arts sector, and the creative and cultural industries at large. In partnership with Magnum Photo, the #VANSAIPToolkit has been made accessible to all and free to download from our
website. As an organisation, we remain committed to developing industry knowledge, resources, networks and projects for contemporary art practice in South Africa.
National Visual Art Survey Update
In the last quarter of 2023, VANSA partnered with
Andani.Africa as part of #NationalVisualArtSurvey research campaign. Commissioned by the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, Andani.Africa has compiled and shared the draft report with the relevant stakeholders for their insights and inputs. Taking into consideration that the last time a research undertaking of this magnitude was in 2010, we wait with great anticipation for the final report to be submitted and handed over to the Department Sport, Arts and Culture.
