Hello there, First name / friend! Hope you are liking my patio game theme for the month! What other themes would you like to see? Today we are discussing another game that would work on a patio, Mastermind. This game is an oldie, but hey, I like to mix it up! |
Mastermind is a 2-player game. You will choose how many rounds you want to play; each player should have equal turns being the codemaker and codebreaker. In this case, Adam was the codemaker. He chose 4 pegs to put into his secret compartment: black, red, black, yellow. You should have enough pegs on the codemaker's side that the codebreaker couldn't figure out which colors you used. Then it's my turn to guess. In my first row, you can see I placed a black, yellow, red, and blue peg. Now Adam will tell me how many pegs I got in the correct spot any how many are the right color, but wrong spot. He will play a small black peg off to the side for correct answers and small white pegs for the misplaced pegs. The order of those small pegs is irrelevant. |
Then I make another guess and Adam will tell me how many I got correct. Play continues like this until you get them all correct, or you reach the end of the board. Since I figured out the code in 5 moves, Adam gets 5 points. If I make it all the way to the end without getting the code, he will get 11 points. The scoring marker is on the left side of the board shown in the pictures. |
And then it's time to switch! You can view my turn as codemaker below. I think you can see how that went. 😂 We stopped there, but you could play a total of 2, 3, 4 rounds… whatever you're feeling! There's room to score up to 30. Since this game is an oldie, I'd love to hear if you've played it before or if this is a new-to-you game. |
