Devising Your Plan

Welcome First name / fellow lawn addict to another instalment of “The Fulcrum”.
To take your lawn to the next level there is one thing required almost above all other things. No, it’s not the best granular fertiliser, or the best liquid fertiliser, or the best pesticides. Although these things help. Its not the key.

The key is planning and execution.

This is where Arena managers, Curators and Superintendents set themselves apart. Devising a plan and executing on that plan, is the key.
A well-structured and thought-out plan typically involves tracking of the products used, amounts, and dates. By tracking these it allows use to know when and how products are applied, to help prevent overuse or underuse, and allows us to apply them at the right time for maximal effectiveness and uptake.

This weeks Feature lawn is from Daniel Groves. His Tiff Tuff is Newcastle NSW.

This is important because it can help with pesticide resistance. Overtime any pest can build resistance to a chemical we apply, keeping track of when products are applied allows us to minimise the chance of the pest building that resistance.

Having a plan/ keeping track of applications also allows for a products’ “full life cycle”. For all products we know how quickly they are used by the plant, and how quickly they breakdown in the soil. By knowing these factors and keeping track or timing out applications allows’ us to get the full life of a product, giving more “bang for your buck” but allows avoids unnecessary application that can cause over fertilisations or going over chemical application rates.
Now I can hear you saying that’s all well and good, if only there was a team of dedicated lawn care experts, with a track record in doing this that offered such a service…
