Last week was a big one over here!
Tuesday, we had a HUGE turnout at NSA for our “Autism in the Workplace” presentation.
Wednesday, I teamed up with a phenomenal group of therapists for a virtual presentation of Neurodivergence and Sex at Tammy Nelson's Integrative Sex Therapy Institute.
Work with the Colonial Players continues as they prepare to present the Curious Incident of the Dog at Nighttime starting this week!
Friday, Taylor Swift released her new album, and for my Swifties…it was a big day.
AND, I completed my PDA level 2 Certification!  So if you want to know more about PDA, I have lots to share!

More exciting collaborations are in the works, so stay tuned!!!!

I had the pleasure of consulting with the cast of The Colonial Players in Annapolis last week!  Steve Tobin is directing this FABULOUS play, featuring an Autistic lead character.  I was blown away by this group of actors!  They come from a wealth of lived experience with Neurodivergence, and it shows.  The play opens this week, and I would LOVE for you to go see Drew Saint Amour as the lead character, Christopher.  Bring the tissues.

On May 12th, The Colonial Players are hosting a talkback with yours truly as well as representatives from “People On the Go” and the Autism Society of Baltimore-Chesapeake following the 2:00 show.  The talkback is free.  Tickets to the show are on sale now.  Link below.

I was lucky enough to grab tickets to see “How to Dance in Ohio” before it went off Broadway earlier this year.  They were recognized for having 7 lead Autistic characters and actors.  The show has been a big topic of discussion in the Autistic world.   After seeing rehearsals from the Colonial Players, I think "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time" is giving Broadway level impact right in our own community.

Check it out!  They are a very small theater, and I am certain that tickets will sell out.

Sensory-Friendly Performances will be offered on Saturday, May 11 and Thursday, May 16.

And for this week's installment of “Practice What you Preach”, it turns out that taking on WAY too much in a week, EVEN WHEN IT IS A TON OF THINGS YOU ABSOLUTELY LOVE DOING….is exhausting, and not the best idea!  Even happy bodies in hyperfocus will hit a wall.
Autistic brains have a way of informing your body to “shut it all down” when they are overwhelmed.  This can look like intense emotions, trouble sleeping, higher than normal Anxiety, exhaustion, GI issues, migraines, and susceptibility to illness.

Can anyone relate?
Don't be afraid to slow down and take care of yourself.  You are not above being a human body.
Take care of your body this week!
